BRAVO LE ROUX - Hip Hop

Born 1995, South African rapper, poet, vocalist, visual artist, dancer and a song writer Sinesipho Peter aka Bravo Le Roux hales from Khayelitsha in Cape Town, South Africa.

Bravo stands for "excellence" while Le Roux indicates that he represents no specific race.

Despite being born in Khayelitsha, he has maneuvered between Khayelitsha and Overberg region, residing in Kleinmond and Gansbaai.

Bravo Le Roux as kid, has been always energetic and very active. He participated in extra mural activities such as soccer, cricket, dancing and painting, but found his passion in Hip Hop.

He obtained great recognition when he won the ClashMC Battle Rap competition in 2016.

In 2018, he dropped his “Priddy Yung Ting” EP.  Following that, he featured a verse on his younger brother’s single titled “Mona Lisa” and the street loved the song.

This was a comeback for Bravo Le Roux and he did not stop.

He then dropped his single “Long Street” and it became sought after. He then made his first official music video on the single “Long Street”.

Bravo Le Roux won the Cape Town’s Ivyson Tour leg, which gave him the opportunity to represent the city and be an opening act for Nasty C.  He has previously performed in some of Cape Town’s Him having been previously in some of Cape Town’s biggest events such as Ikasi Experience, Ipotsoyi and Ubumnandi Festival.

Bravo Le Roux could possibly be the only artist in Africa to ever crowd surf on their come up. He surfed on a crowd of over 3000 people at Ubumnandi Festival 2018 in Hermanus. His current single “Long Street” is arguably the best Hip Hop song in Cape Town right now. He is also arguably the most likely artist to blow up in 2019.

He is currently an ambassador of Salute Clothing and is now working on doing Western Cape school’s tour and working on his upcoming merchandise.

He has shared stage with the likes of Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, Yung Swiss, Zakwe, YoungSta and many more.

DUMAROKAR - Hip Hop/ House

Dumisane Nkosi aka Dumarokar, a man whose roots are deeply rooted in his faith, hales from Klipgat in Johannesburg, South Africa.  

As a song writer and vocalist, he doesn't have a specific genre in music.

 

He believes that music without a massage is not worth listening to - a philosophy & vision of music as a way of healing souls - only if the recipient understands the message he delivers through song.

​

Dumarokar is a self-motivated artist whose music is aimed at motivating youth into embracing love and aim for nothing but the best in life.

 

He is currently a co-owner and MD of a found label DEEPFAM RECORDS alongside his partners Kagiso Mokgari (DJXtee) and  Onica Elnathan Sidu (Nubia Soul)

SA Hip Hop Artist Free Bail  hales from Umlazi in South Africa.

Free Bail is a well known artist on the underground scene and more specifically for his beast-like lyrics and performances on stage.

​

You will travel far to find a more unique artist.

​

He grew up singing in the choir and was inspired by all the old school hip hop and other greats.

​

His curry diss song is well known with locals and you can expect all audiences to be singing it back during performances.

Free Bail is also a beat maker and currently learning production.

​

Free Bail also spends a large amount of time mentoring newcomers to the music industry.

JOE MOTH - Actor/ MC/ Rapper

Born 1992, Douglas Joe Mothemane aka JOE MOTH hails from Johannesburg, South Africa.

This youngsta oozes energy on stage and boasts with a unique voice that is reminiscent of the Kwaito greats such as Mdu, KB, and Iggy Smalls.

Joe is greatly inspired by the sounds of Major Lazer, DJ Snake, DJ Maphorisa, Sketchy Bongo and Shekinah.

Joe’s message to us is to forget about the fighting, the money & who has the best swagg and just dancing!!! He makes music to bring us back together as one. He asks us to remember how we all used to sing along to classic tunes and were a happy people. He wants to bring back the flavor of happy music with a special message blended with dance vibes.

In 2018, Joe Moth made a business decision to hang up his gloves from the Gospel Rap Industry, releasing his smash hit single that has a sing along hook called Only Your Love Feat Calvin Mayer.

Joe is currently working on an EP called Back To The Future which is inspired by Future Bass and EDM, mixed with an African sound.

Joe has been featured in The Christian Newspaper, The Daily Sun, Move Magazine, Cosmo Mall Magazine and Cosmo Chronicles.

Joe has also been featured on Soweto TV, Gospel 331, Startimes Gospel 360.

Joe also has a music video on Channel 0.

KOLO - Hip Hop

Born 1993, Thabiso Dlamini aka Kolo, hales from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Kolo was a name his baby cousin called him which stuck.
At 6, Kolo's uncle would play Eminem's album on cassettes. Even though Kolo had very little understanding of lyricism & Eminem's enigma, the sound and flow grew onto the younger Kolo, becoming a major influence in his life. Eventually Kolo grew to understand Slim Shady, which kick started his passion & dedication to Hip Hop. Even during his primary school events, Kolo would write and perform his own songs. Even getting into trouble for doing so.
A songstress friend, advised him to join her at The NFX Studios, where he recorded his first track. After the first studio session, one of the rappers was impressed and asked him to collaborate, this became a hit in the France (PMB) Rap game. 
Kolo's work with NFX has been a great platform and support for Kolo, even though his journey has been solo.
In 2014,  Kolo released his first 7 track E.P called Masterpiece which sold over 800 copies. He also shot a music video for the single Pictures .
Kolo is currently working on his first 20 track mixtape with a new track that's trending called Morning Glory.

LIMS - Hip Hop/ House/ Soul

Singer/ songwriter & poet Lemogang Mahlangu, aka LIMS hales from from Pretoria, South Africa.

His music career started In 2008 when he became a member of an acapella group “Digarepa”, Here Lims learned from the founder of the group - musically talented Rasta man, bra S’bu

Lims was introduced into a culture of singing in street corners, melodies that got them a lot of attention from their peers, community & family members. The group later separated and Lims sang with a few other groups afterwards; the most memorable being “Reflex Praise”.

 

Lims is an avid reader and interested in African history & culture. Lims feels he has the responsibility to bring attention to the truth, the beauty of diverse African cultures and the wisdom passed down to us by our forefathers. This comes through in his lyrics and poetry. His first priority as an artist is not only to entertain, but also to represent & share his views freely; purposely aiming to revive the glory of African heritage. 

LUCA BRASSY - Hip Hop

Born and raised in New York, USA, Luca Brassy, has been building a reputation in the Tri-State area as one of the hottest emcees in the region. His journey started in entertainment through professional wrestling at age 13. By 16, he was running his own professional wrestling training center.

Luca discovered his love for writing & music in 2004. In 2004, he met Jgreen Moneytalkz who has been producing his music ever since.

Luca Brassy has performed at numerous cities and states including Schenectady, Albany, Glens Falls, Amsterdam, Rochester, Pittsfield, Pittsburgh, Massachusetts, Buffalo, Newport Rhode Island, Brooklyn, Bronx NY, Manhattan, Staten Island, Ardmore PA, Uniontown Alabama, Birmingham, Atlanta GA, Marshall NC, and Memphis TN among others.

Among other great accolades, he has opened for several well known emcees such as Rakim and Lil Kim.

Brassy is now moving in a new direction with his music and putting his old school lyrical mentality to use with his club vibe which has brought him a whole new fan base as well as a different kind of recognition.

Luca was recently signed to Sony RED where he released 2 singles “Like That” and “3000” (produced by Younglord).

Born 1995, Mbulelo Ndlazilwana aka Mbulelo Katise hales from Johannesburg and has a passion for the arts.

He started acting in 2005 and is best known for his role as Scelo on etv soapie Scandal.

He was previously known for his role as Jigga, a cleaner at the shebeen run by Mam’Ruby in the SABC 1 soapie Generations.

Other acting roles include:

  • Shreds and Dreams Season 1 as Nkanyiso

  • Harvest as Donga

  • Home Affairs as Lebo

  • Jozi-H Season 1 Guest Star

  • Saints & Sinners Season 3 as Hijack Victim

  • Mbulelo also appeared in the youth series Mindset Learn and Masheleng

In high school he started writing his own stories and poetry and even managed some up & coming artists.

Blending Afro Pop, Hip Hop and Fusion, this multi-talented artist is now making his presence known in in the music arena. In 2017 he released his first hit song “Still Shining”.

MXB - Afro Pop/ Hip Hop

MXB Yokadouma was born in the East Province of Cameroon in the town of Yokadouma.

​

His dream started in 1996 with role models like Tupac, Wutang Clan and his African idols Papa Wemba, Kofi Olomide and Daara, just to name a few.

​

MXB has always had a feel for music in all genres but he chooses to do, write and perform mostly African infused Afro Pop never far from his roots.

 

He currently resides in Durban, South Africa and has a fresh new album called BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS.

NONI_BLU - Trap/ R&B

Born 1996, Sthembiso Nokuthula Zungu aka Noni_Blu hales from Empangeni, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. Noni_Blu is a young aspiring TrapRnB artist who dreams to pursue a career in the music industry with a commercially inclined style.

 

She joined the school choir in Grade 1, singing soprano up until Grade 9. During this time, she received certificates and trophies as best soprano singer. She also sang in the church choir also receiving music trophies from church. 
Before relocating to Durban, Noni and her 3 singer friends formed a music group called the “Serenades”. They sung in church and the group helped her grow and taught her a lot about team work.

After relocating to Durban to pursue tertiary studies in              Marketing Management, she felt fit enough to go solo and started composing songs and recording. This was never hard for Noni_Blu, as she has always written her poems, taking down her feelings. 
She grew up being inspired by Destiny’s Child, Malaika and Bucie. At the moment, she’s greatly inspired Jhene Aiko, Ciara, Nicki Minaj, Bryson Tiller, Meek Mill, Miguel and Kendrick Lamar
Noni_Blu Noni loves watching Channel O, MTV Base & Trace is also crazy about fashion.

 

PHILA HARMONY MADLINGOZI - Afro Pop/ House/ R&B/ Jazz

Born in Johannesburg, Phila Madlingozi was raised in PE and is 1st born son of SA Icon Singer & Producer Ringo Madlingozi.

In his own right, Phila writes music, sings, raps & dances.

Phila has studied Film & TV Production and Media Concepts and is currently working on being a noticeable film producer.

Phila made his acting debut as Zithembe/Zolile on the 2nd season of the award winning SABC 1 drama series –Intersexions  in 2013. You can read more about Phila’s other acting roles under our Personalities page.

In 2014 he made the TOP 6 on @SowetanLIVE’sMzansi’s sexiest 2014 ‘Top 12 Men’ Competition and Top 16 Idols SA 2015.

In 2016, he released his 1st single “Phila” featuring Hip Hop artist “Solo”,

Phila has many causes close to his heart – currently he is an Ambassador for ZAZI, an org against women & children abuse.

Phila was also a Mentor on Future Leaders SABC 1.

RA-JAH WEIRD - Hip Hop

The inspirationally, enlightening & creative Rajahayanda Majola aka Ra-Jah Weird hales from Durban. His message is one filled with a reviving & nurturing force.

A writer, artist and visionary, Ra-jah has been communicating his message through music for years – you are more then what you know yourself to be, everything around you is more then what you know it to be.

He has been to numerous radio stations in and around KZN for interviews including Ukhozi FM and Gagasi FM.

Ra-jah has a single “Good Vibes” featuring SAMA award winner Zakwe, which has a music video, and is currently circulating on radio, TV and social platforms in South Africa.

He has performed at Fact Durban Rocks, Ukhozi FM Nyusi Volume University Tour and in numerous other events in and around Durban.

The latest expression of his message comes in the form of a book “The Mirror” which comes with his mixtape. The book is based around a concept called "MUSHY" (Mind, Unity, Spirit, Health, Yoga). Basically, a lifestyle based on the notion that a clear & within itself united mind, plus a healthy spirit (meaning generally optimistic and positive energy), gives birth to a fulfilling life for an individual.

TIZURS BLAZE - Hip Hop

Thabo Mguni aka Tizurs Blaze was into music as it was a way of escaping the harsh realities he had to face on a daily basis, he expressed his thoughts & feelings through spoken word. This made him skillful in his delivery. His words painted pictures into one’s mind so that you can understand his world as he sees it - raw and uncut.

In 2004, he met Dumarokar DJXtee and a few others into music. Ghetto Function was born and that same year they recorded their first track entitled “Crazy life”.

In 2011 Tizurs & his family struggled to come to terms with the death of his brother, who was the thread that held everything together. Financially they struggled, but that fueled the fire that blazed violently in Tizur’s spirit. He went on to work retail. His heart was just not in it, but the 3-year stint would be the experience that would prepare him for his purpose – to serve the masses with good music.

Tizurs opened a car wash in Mabopane, which still operates today. Tizurs is determined to make sure that he provides a better life not only for himself but for his family and son.

DJXtee rekindled the spirit of hip-hop in Tizurs and he recorded his first single ft. Nubia Soul entitled Calling.

Tizur’s philosophy is “Let Life be” which to him encourages him to face each challenge with wisdom and sober judgement.

SEAN EMMANUEL - Afro Pop/ Hip Hop

Independent singer/ songwriter & rapper Sean Emmanuel Asek aka Sean Emmanuel hales from Cameroon in a city called Limbe.

Sean started his music career during his Varsity days in Cameroon but became professional while living in SA.

While recording in SA, Sean registered his own Record Label Nouveau Era Production.

As a Christian who loves hip hop, Sean Emmanuel seeks to bring clean, educational, motivating & inspiring content while entertaining it's audience and elevating Christ.

In 2016 Sean was nominated at the Cameroon GreenLight Awards as BEST UPCOMING ARTIST.

Sean has performed in SA, Nigeria, Mozambique & Cameroon.

​​

Sean is currently living & recording his songs in Nigeria while hoping to move back to SA where he started.

SIMBONE - Afro Pop/ Hip Hop

Simbone Qabo  hales from East London in South Africa. He is an urban traditional Xhosa Poet, vocalist, dancer and songwriter; Whether you understand what he is singing about or not when listening to his music you will enjoy his soul piercing songs. He writes about everyday life, love, and everyday people’s daily struggles.

Simbone's music is indigenous in rhythm and in lyrical content, explores the organic spirit of African Music, its dynamic cross rhythms, through its melodic and harmonic structures, his music is commentary is based on his literary works, poetry, songs, short stories, which deals with a variety of life experiences.

He also plays guitar, percussion and harmonica.

Simbone has also taken part in various Theatre productions as well as composing the music for ‘’The Gruffalo’’2014.

Simbone is just something else on stage, a beast as his followers would say, You feel his presence because of the passion and enthusiasm he projects. He will give you a memorable performance, a master of his own style and its originator.

THE PLUG - Hip Hop

Born 1994, R&B/ Hip Hop  SA singer/ song writer Simphiwe Rodney Mbokazi aka Rodney (left) hales from Kwa-Mashu in Durban, South Africa, where his music career was initiated with the help of his friends Leko & Taylormac with whom he formed a group called The Plug. He started getting attention after recording & releasing his XXXtentacion-Changes Cover. He has an international Graphic Design Diploma and loves photography, directing & videography. He is also part of the live calm lifestyle as a graphic designer & photographer.

Born 1993, all round artist Nkululeko Freedom Gumede aka Leko (centre) was born and raised in Kwa-Mashu, Durban in a very artistic family, ranging from dancers to singers and poets. Leko dances, sings, raps, composes, writes lyrics, produces and records his own music.
He has appeared on Memeza on 1KZN, Vibe FM and InandaFM.
He has performed at Essence Festival 2017, 2018 Fill up Moses Mabida, 2018 Ink Festival, 2018 Pop Bottles Durban and Good Sunday “Umhlanga Wave House”
Leko is currently working on his mixtape to be released late in 2019.

Born 1993, Sanda Zondi (right) aka Taylormac was born and raised in KwaMashu. 
Taylormac is a Hip-Hop recording artist & record producer who was inspired early in by artists like Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Royce Da 5’9 and J Cole Taylormac says you can expect something conscious and new school from him. He started getting attention after the release of his debut single in 2010 which he produced titled ‘THIS IS MY TIME’. As a result, he opened the stage for ZAKWE. He has performed at ARTIZEN & Club Kulture. In May 2018, he was involved in funding THE COMEUP EVENT planned & organised by the LIVECALM LIFESTYLE (PTY) LTD which featured Nasty C, Erick Rush, Palmtree Paradise and Nomadik.
Currently, Taylormac is working on his EP.
